Acoustic guitar player and singer, Marty Sweeney, started playing as a kid when he borrowed a friend’s old dreadnought guitar and learned a few chords from a book. Fast forward to high school, where Marty played saxophone in the high school band and decided to join the chorus where he got hooked on vocal harmonies. While attending Le Moyne College, Marty decided to join the Folk Group and play during church services. That was so enjoyable that he joined the Folk Group at his neighborhood church where he met his future wife, Liz. Marty further pursued his love for music in 2010 when he formed an acoustic trio called Day Ja Voo. The band performed many shows throughout Central New York until the fall of 2018. Marty was privileged to play songs with rich acoustic harmonies alongside fantastic musicians, including his son Brian (drums and vocals) who was studying at the Crane School of Music.
Acoustic guitar player and singer, Vinny Marks (Vince Markowsky), started his professional music career in 2001, when he played within an acoustic duo for 3 years, playing hits from the 60’s and 70’s primarily within Oswego County in Northern New York. Eventually, Vinny joined an acoustic trio called Riverside and primarily played in Alexandria Bay during the summer months for the next 2 years. In the fall of 2010, he decided to form a trio with two other musicians, including Marty Sweeney and Jeff Bargelski, to create the band called Day Ja Voo. The band continued to perform their 3-part harmony full band sound within a wide range of music venues throughout Central New York up until the fall of 2018.
In early 2023, Marty and Vinny decided to reunite their musical partnership, though this time as an acoustic duo. Martin and Marks perform with a down to earth personable style, balancing their professional sound with spontaneity and humor with their audience. Martin and Marks’s repertoire includes covers from America, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, Eric Clapton, Pure Prairie League, Tom Petty, Poco, Bob Marley, CCR, Jackson Browne, The Beatles, John Denver, and The Everly Brothers, just to name a few!
